Theratrak platform and product updates

Summary of Theratrak product updates in 2022

Theratrak is committed to creating a product that therapists can use easily and that improves their workflow. We’re also on a mission to encourage participants to reach their therapy goals. Our two major platform updates this year related to workflow and engagement in therapy.

Participant App 3.0: Gamification

Something that we had been working towards for years, was the Theratrak Participant App 3.0 update. We knew these features are important to increase engagement outside of therapy and these updates help participants reach their goals. We completely simplified the app, added rewards, and introduced our first Theramate - Kelly the Koala. Kelly and future. Read more about how and why we gamified Theratrak.

Theratrak 2022 Integrations

Theratrak is now integrated with world-class clinic management and case note systems: Cliniko and Coreplus. These integrations help clinics and therapists to save time with case notes as well as to increase the transparency and communication around home programming.

We’ve got more integrations planned for 2022 to help make therapist lives easier. If you want your case management system to integrate with Theratrak, let us know here.

Working with Partners to alleviate waitlists and reach therapy outcomes

In 2022, we partnered with more game-changer health organisations going the extra mile to support their participants.

We started working closely with 12 Points Psychology in 2021 where Director Danielle Graber delivered asynchronous mental health telehealth support during the pandemic through the Theratrak platform. They had incredible results that were presented by Laura Simmons at the Occupational Therapy Australia OT Mental Health Forum in Sydney November 2022.

In June, Laura Simmons presented at the Occupational Therapy Australia #OTX2022 Conference and outlined the work Theratrak is doing with Everyday Independence in a presentation on: Innovations in person-centred capacity building technology and clinical application.

Talking about health and technology at events

Webinar: Overcoming Barriers to Change in Allied Healthcare with Coreplus & Everyday Independence

If you find yourself facing resistance to change in your work - from yourself or from your team - this event was designed to help! During the event, Laura speaks with healthtech experts Yianni Serpanos CEO of coreplus and Reimainging Healthcare, and Leanne Healy Director of Everyday Independence. Laura Simmons shared more about why Theratrak exists, how the platform is influencing work, and why it's important to support allied health professionals with clinical champions and sense makers to overcome barriers to change.

“Co-designing with end users, participants with a disability, and people who work with people with disabilities is so important. It’s something that we’ve engrained in all of our development since the start of Theratrak.“

The first event of the year was an panel at the Talking HealthTech 2022 Summit. Theratrak founder Laura Simmons contributed to a discussion on digital health and disability inclusion where she emphasised the importance of co-designing with participants. Laura spoke alongside Gillian Mason from AIDH, Dr Rachael Cvejic - a lecturer in intellectual disability mental health, and John Perkins from Checked In Care. Laura also participated in the Talking Healthtech Spring Summit in August talking about the multi-billion dollar therapy industry and the apps, online tools, and digital products that support it. Laura spoke alongside Pete Horsley from Remarkable Tech, Gillian Mason from Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH), and Steven Whittington from My Health Match.

Earlier in 2022, Laura attended Australian Healthcare Week - an event that features +200 speakers and +4,000 attendees across 11 tailored programs covering key topics in healthcare! Back in 2021, Laura pitched Theratrak during the conference startup competition (with no pitch deck after a slides mix up!) and ended up securing second place!

Later in 2022, Laura also spoke with Masters students at the University of Sydney before they joined the workforce.

Working in the allied health industry, there’s many opportunities to connect with inspiring people and we’re co-designing to build the features therapists really want. If you’d like to partner or connect with the Theratrak team or Laura, feel free to get in touch here.

Community awards, programs, and student workshops

In 2022, we deepened our relationship with Western Sydney University - over a decade since our founder graduated from WSU. Early in the year, Theratrak founder Laura Simmons spoke with third year Occupational Therapy students about the realities of working in allied health and the role technology plays - where one student said: “Theratrak should be in every clinic.”

Then Theratrak was awarded a university grant of $10,000 for an initial research project to showcase through data how Theratrak is making an impact in communities. Then later in the year, Laura was recognised with an Alumni Award which acknowledges excellence in the fields of research, innovation, creative thinking and technology.

Early in 2022, we found out that Theratrak won the Best Home Therapy Management Solution Award in the GHP 2021 Technology Awards announced in the GHP Magazine.

To further study and experience around healthtech startups and gain insights from countries outside Australia, our founder was selected to be a part of the 2022 Ignite Healthcare cohort which allowed learning from world class healthtech experts like those at Kindred Hospital and incredible investors from 1984vc. Laura also participated as a finalist in the Ignite Global Tech Pitch competition.

A note from Theratrak founder, Laura Simmons

“Reflecting on 2022, I feel grateful, hopeful and excited about 2023.

I'm grateful to be on this journey, and seeing the impact that Theratrak is having on so many therapists and participants' lives is just incredible.

I'm also incredibly grateful for all the fantastic opportunities I've had to share Theratrak with the broader community this year, presenting our preliminary research, presenting use cases on various podcasts and connecting with industry experts across Australia and overseas, to name a few of them.

I'm hopeful that the digitisation of allied healthcare is upon us, meaning that we will be able to support more people to reach their independence goals with the aid of technology to help therapists do their job more effectively.

And I'm super excited for the year to come. We will have university-backed clinical research behind us. I can't wait to build out more gamification features, other allied health components and integrations to make Theratrak more accessible to everyone.”
